Coastal Town of Mendocino, California

Image
Previously I had mentioned that Mendocino, California has a wonderful restaurant, MacCallum House, for fine dining.  However, if you're an East Coast-er or not a foodie like me, you might never have heard of the coastal California town of Mendocino.  Mendocino is about a 3.5 hour drive north of San Francisco.  Along the way you'll pass dozens of wineries.  I wish we had been able to stop in to one or two of them, along with Anderson Valley Brewing, but alas, we were on a time schedule so that we could get to our dinner reservation in time (we drove up from the Russian River Valley area). Mendocino, located about 9.5 miles south of Fort Bragg, gets its town name from "Cape Mendocino" as it was named by early Spanish navigators in honor of Antonio de Mendoza, who was the Viceroy of New Spain .  Mendocino's population may be on the smaller side, but it's actually on the National Register of Historic Places in Mendocino County.  The town has also been ...

First Look at Acadia National Park

Switching gears for a hot second away from my Adriatic Adventure vacation round up (don't worry, I'll resume the recap soon!), I wanted to share my mini vacation to Acadia National Park from Independence Day weekend.  I first got inspired to see Acadia National Park from the U.S. Interior's Instagram , which posts tons of beautiful photos from across the U.S.  Let me just say that what I saw of Acadia NP in such a short time was gorgeous and I can't wait to go back one day!  New England has some really picturesque spots, let me tell you. We arrived the Wednesday leading up to the Fourth of July weekend.  After checking into Hanscom's Cottages , we took the free local bus to Bar Harbor, the main tourist town by Acadia NP.  There we had a delicious lunch at Galyn's .  I had the most amazing crab cakes (caught in Maine!) ever!  And we loved that the owner collected art and displayed it through out the restaurant. Our first day there (more lik...

Shopping and Double Rainbows

Image
Let me start off by saying that I have no intention on making this blog's primary theme about fashion.  Unless it's a fashion blog about daily or weekly outfits, new clothes purchases are an expensive thing to blog about and I'd rather put my money elsewhere.  Also, the prices of some brands out there are ridiculous.  However, I do enjoy an afternoon of shopping every now and then as many women do.  No shame in that. I hadn't gone on a big shopping spree in quite a while and was looking to update my wardrobe with some chic basics to incorporate both in and out of the office.  I was inspired, via Pinterest, by the chic, modern-day Audrey Hepburn look meets casual prep (minus all the polo stuff...not my thing) with some nautical notes mixed in.  It sounds like a lot going on, but obviously you don't have to mix all of these looks into one outfit.  So, without further ado.... H&M: white and blue jeans | white blazer (only available in blac...
