Top 5 Most Read 2015 Adventures
Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone brought in 2016 with fun, good cheer, and--most importantly--good friends! My fiance and I hosted a small, low key party in our home with some good friends. This was our third year hosting and, like the two years before, we had a new signature drink ready for our guests. This year we went with a White Cranberry Martini, which was very delicious and subsequently a big hit!
With 2015 now behind us, I wanted to take a look at my top 5 most read 2015 travel adventures on my blog. I started this blog as a creative outlet, and that's still how I'll continue to run it, but I'm pretty happy with my stats considering I use a free blogging platform. Most of my readers are, unsurprisingly, based in the United States; but I was surprised to see that a fair amount of my readers hail from Brunei followed by Germany and the United Kingdom. I've discovered a ton of travel bloggers along the way and I really enjoy reading their adventures and looking at all of the lovely photos from those travels--it's a great way to keep my bucket list growing and my wanderlust alive!
So, without further ado, here are the Top 5 Most Read 2015 Travel Adventures on Corking Around.
1. Crooked Run Brewery
Crooked Run Brewery is a nanobrewery in Leesburg, Virginia. I've only been there once, but I was a big fan of all the beers they had on tap that day. It's one of the few breweries I've been to where I enjoyed everything, plus I think they have great ideas when it comes to brewing new batches of beer. I hope to make it back over there this year (New Year's goal, right?!).
We visited Allagash Brewery as part of our annual Labor Day vacation up in Maine. You may have heard of their most popular beer, Allagash White, but they also do a lot of batch experimentation. If you're in the area, they have a really great free tour that goes over in depth the beer brewing process; the tour finishes with a tasting of four of their small batch beers.
3. Visiting Ljubljana, Slovenia
Ljubljana is quickly becoming a popular city to visit among tourists. I thought it was a gorgeous city and I loved how everyone fully embraces the cafe culture. The architecture is beautiful and you can spend time at their wine bars trying Slovenian wine without going very far. Plus they're also relatively close to the Skocjan Caves, a must-see natural wonder in Slovenia.
4. Korcula, Croatia
Korčula was one of my favorite cities we visited during our "Adriatic Adventure" vacation in 2015. We had such a great view from our room--the rainbow after a thunderstorm says it all. The water is beautiful, the Old Town is quaint, plus it's an easy bus ride to Lumbarda where you can visit wineries on the island.
5. Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is home to some of the most stunning terraced lakes and waterfalls. We only had one day there, so we hiked a route that maximized what we could see in the park, namely the Upper Lakes where some of the more beautiful "exotic" waterfalls are located (though they're all beautiful!).
